Lionell Martin, Sr. Candidate for 7th Ward Alderman

Thank you for visiting the 7thWardChange website. My name is Lionell Martin, Sr. and I want to be your next 7th Ward Alderman.
It is no secret that our city is experiencing challenging times. Unemployment and home foreclosures are at an all time high, while crime continues to run rampant in our neighborhoods. Despite these difficult times, I have a firm belief that the 7th Ward's best days are ahead of us.
Thus, as your next Alderman I will:
-be COMMITTED to working with the residents and business owners of the 7th Ward to help find solutions to our most challenging issues;
-diligently work to restore the HONOR and respect to the people by EMPOWERING everyone to take an active role in improving the community;
AND
- be RESPONSIVE to the concerns that resident's raise.
We don't need action tomorrow, we need it NOW! In order for us to move forward and GROW as a community, we need to come together and embrace C.H.A.N.G.E. Positive change will only occur, if we work together to determine what issues are priority, create policies to address those issues, and implement those policies to ensure that the 7th Ward becomes the community that encompasses all of the benefits, comforts and services that we expect and deserve.
Many people aspire to be an Alderman, but only a few really want to do the work; I want to do the work! As a resident of the 7th Ward I expect swift ACTION by the officials who have been elected to serve us. I currently serve as a member of Chicago's first line of defense on emergency preparedness and crime prevention. I have the awareness, experience and skills that are necessary to improve the issues that our stressing our community. As Alderman, I will utilize my skills and knowledge from my various experiences to take swift Action on the following:
- Gentrifying the 7th Ward through the City’s planning and development;
- Creating more green, safe and clean neighborhoods;
- Implementing a workforce strategy that improves residents ability to obtain soft and hard skills training, apprenticeship opportunities, remedial educational programming, employment and job upgrades;
- Building safe passages for our youth;
- Enhancing public safety measures, and;
- Improving our schools to ensure our children are adequately prepared to excel in their perspective areas of focus and eventually be prepared to matriculate into a trade or college.
Together we will bring forth a new 7th Ward, a better place to live and a place proud to call home.
